Exploring Bluesky With Your Brand

With recent changes to the Twitter platform, many sought an alternative that would work in a similar way. Backed in part by Jack Dorsey, a founder of Twitter, Bluesky looks to be that solution as a replacement of sorts for Twitter. Bluesky carries over many of the same features as Twitter, but with different names. For example, users can post text, follow their friends, and interact with other users with replies, incredibly similar to how Twitter operates now. However, Bluesky aims to expand upon the current Twitter model, and has hopes for users to develop their own apps and programs within the main Bluesky program, not unlike what Meta has done with Facebook. Cross-posting between unrelated social platforms is also a likely possibility, as Bluesky makes use of what’s known as an “open-protocol” and is easy to modify to your liking.

For now, Bluesky is invite-only, meaning only users who are currently on the platform can extend invitations to others. Of course, this means a much smaller user pool and higher degree of difficulty when it comes to actually establishing your brand on the platform, so at the moment it is not viable for every brand to join and secure their desired username or platform. As the app continues its beta testing and has all of the major kinks worked out it is very likely that brands will hop aboard as soon as possible, so it’s important to watch the platform’s growth and see if it will be a good fit for your brand!

If you’re considering the move to Bluesky, you may be wondering if you should abandon your brand’s Twitter account entirely. For now, the answer is no! Wait to see how Bluesky develops and if it remains popular with users, as well as adding new users at a consistent pace. It’s important to maintain your Twitter presence as a backup in the event that Bluesky does not catch on, so you still have a proven platform that can be used to represent your brand. As always, Trustworkz is ready to help you achieve your social media goals, no matter the platform!
