Say it With an Image!

Text can be found on every social platform ever made. It’s the foundation of the internet, and very often the best way to convey a message. The problem with text, however, is that one must make a conscious effort to read it and devote their time to understanding. This split-second decision can mean the difference between creating a sale and missing out on a potential customer. The solution? Infographics!

Infographics are images distributed online that provide information through text paired with colorful, eye-catching images. Often, they are used to break down a concept, explain how something works, or just list the features of a product. What makes infographics more potent than just text is their ability to pause a user’s scrolling and capture their attention, even if they don’t make the conscious decision to stop scrolling. In these few seconds after a user has stopped, they must decide to either continue their scroll or commit and view your content. If you can capture the viewer during this time, your chances of making a sale just rose exponentially!

A good infographic will have limited text, instead encouraging the viewer to process the image and seek further information. For example, an infographic featuring a car may have an exciting action shot of a car speeding along a highway, with smaller text placed next to important features on the car like high-performance brakes and large tires. This format catches the eye with an exciting image, then encourages the viewer to learn more by providing a small bit of text with more information about the image.

The battle for user attention on social media is constantly evolving and is tough to win, but with the right tools and intentions you can effectively weaponize it to generate revenue!
